Summary:

The Research on Excessive Persistent and Emotion-based Actions and Traits (REPEAT) Lab in the Department of Psychology at Virginia Commonwealth University is recruiting to fill 2-3 Clinical Research Coordinator positions. These positions will provide support for various research projects conducted by the Principal Investigator Dr. Ann Haynos most of which investigate the neurobiology and treatment of eating disorders and other disorders of rigidity (e.g. obsessive-compulsive spectrum disorders). Current projects include using a range of methods (fMRI neurocognitive measures computational modeling ambulatory assessment clinical interviews) to investigate how people develop and maintain eating disorders and related disorders and how to target these processes in treatment.

Typical Duties

The Clinical Research Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating clinical research studies that involve individuals with eating disorders obsessive-compulsive disorder and other psychological concerns in a compliant and efficient manner. Under the direction of the PI the incumbent will collaborate with all members of the clinical research team to ensure all federal state university and protocol requirements are followed institutional research objectives are met and that ethical obligations are kept.

Job activities include but are not limited to:
assisting with lab organization and planning;
recruiting screening and enrolling participants into lab studies;
coordinating research procedures (including administer fMRI neurocognitive measures ambulatory measures and clinical interviews);
maintaining regulatory and compliance requirements including appropriate study documentation/record;
supervising undergraduate volunteers;
managing cleaning and analyzing study data; and
assisting with manuscript and grant preparation.

The position will allow knowledge and skill development related to conducting neuroimaging procedures and complex statistical and computational analysis interfacing with clinical populations and working within a multidisciplinary collaborative environment. This is an excellent opportunity for obtaining research and clinical experience prior to applying for graduate or medical school and will involve professional development including the ability to work on publications conference talks and grants.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Research or clinical experience working with eating disorders obsessive-compulsive disorder and/or similar clinical population
  • Knowledge of and experience with neuroimaging methods and/or analysis
  • Knowledge of and experience with coding (e.g. through R Python Matlab or other coding language)
  • Knowledge of and experience with statistical analysis and/or computational modeling (e.g. through R SPSS)

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Psychology Neuroscience Data Science or a related discipline OR education/experience in a clinical research setting equal to 4 years
  • Excellent communication writing problem-solving and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU
  • Demonstrated experience working with clinical populations with psychological concerns OR evidence of commitment to learn the skills necessary to work with these populations
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a team
  • Ability to prioritize work requirements and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to manage time effectively perform daily tasks with minimal supervision
  • Willingness to travel to study sites and meeting locations as applicable
