Position Summary
The primary purpose of the Research Operations Manager position is to manage and direct the operations of the laboratory by providing the highest and broadest levels of scientific expertise and oversight to research projects conducted at The Francis Owen Blood Research Laboratory ( FOBRL ). This includes the generation of methodologies for new experimentation interpretation and presentation of data planning and organizing work budgeting supervision and training of employees organization of the laboratory environment and compliance with all regulatory agencies. FOBRL is unique compared to other research laboratories on campus since the research buildings are immediately adjacent to the housing facilities for several large animal models of inherited bleeding disorders and vascular disease that are used in independent and collaborative research projects with investigators worldwide. Currently there are multiple independent projects active collaborations with over 20 research teams comprised of varying numbers of researchers worldwide and a large census of animals maintained at the FOBRL and multiple locations on campus. The Research Operations Manager must have a sound scientific knowledge of the animal models present at FOBRL and be able to manage all aspects of this laboratory.
Required Qualifications Competencies And Experience
Experience with research that utilizes dog and pig models of inherited bleeding disorders and atherosclerosis respectively. Availability to work rotating evenings weekends holidays and during inclement weather is essential in order to care for our colonies.
