Job Description
Position
The Claims Services department has an immediate opening for someone who can demonstrate the WCF values to join their team as a Subrogation Adjuster. This is a hybrid full-time exempt position that works out of WCFs Sandy Utah headquarters. This posting is open to internal and external candidates.
Responsibilities
- Manage records and develop claim files for third-party investigators and settlement negotiations.
- Work directly with claims adjusters and managers on theories of liability and comparative fault issues.
- Document and review monthly activity related to recoveries referrals canceled files settled claims and the
pursuit of denied third-party claims. - Advise marketing legal claims other carriers and plaintiff attorneys on third-party inquiries.
- Testify at labor commission hearings or civil trials.
- Represent WCF in dealing with insurance agents outside insurance claims operators the legal community and
policyholders. - Offer support to other departments.
- Responsible for full understanding of tort and disability laws pertinent to individual claims.
- Assist WCF and subrogation attorneys in civil litigation.
- Accountable for large sums of money relating to claim exposures.
- Sustain theories of liability while resolving issues with outside legal counsel through negotiations mediations
arbitrations and the court system.
Qualifications
The most qualified applicants will have:
- Bachelors degree in related field and at least two (2) years of experience in legal field or claims adjusting or an
acceptable combination of education and work experience. - Associates in claims through the Insurance Institute of America legal assistant certification through an
accredited college CPCU designation or Subrogation Recovery Professional certification through NASP
preferred. - Experience in workers compensation casualty liability claims or WC subrogation handling is preferred.
- Knowledge of workers compensation and commercial insurance laws regulations and fair claims practice
statutes. - Highly motivated individual who possess strong decision-making skills
- Proficient with Arbitration Forums
An internal candidate should have six months in their current position acceptable job performance and must notify their current supervisor that theyve applied for the position.
