Assistant Track Coach

Salary:
$35568 - $42500
Basic Function:
Assist in coaching recruiting counseling conditioning and training the combined mens and womens track program. Reports to Head Track Coach.

Examples of Duties:
Duties/essential functions may include but not be limited to the following:
Assist in coaching the combined track program; may be assigned overall coaching responsibility for one or more events; utilize coaching and teaching methods to develop student-athletes skills and teamwork.
Assist with the development of team strategy; analyze performance of student-athletes.
Assist in planning and coordinating meet and practice schedules.
Scout and recruit student-athletes.
Assist in fund raising activities to subsidize athletic program; may assist in marketing and public relations activities to promote the program.
Counsel and advise student-athletes with personal or academic problems.
May supervise students and/or provide functional guidance to support staff or other employees who work on a project or assignment on a temporary or intermittent basis throughout the year.
Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree and one or more years of experience coaching track.
License/Certification:
Knowledge Of:
National Collegiate Athletics Association and Mid-American Conference rules and regulations *
Standard practices in student-athlete scouting and recruiting
Skill In:
Training or instructing student-athletes *
Written verbal and interpersonal communication *
Basic computer skills *
Ability To:
Analyze situations and develop solutions *
Travel and work non-traditional hours *
Preferred Qualifications if applicable:
Experience as a pole vault athletic and/or coaching pole vault
Experience with sport operations

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:
Typically requires balance strength flexibility and endurance sufficient to demonstrate teach and develop skills of student athletes. Must be able to work non-traditional hours including evenings and weekends. Incumbent must be able to communicate with others. Incumbent may be required to travel from building to building and off-campus frequently.
