Note: At YRDSB if you are added to the Occasional Teacher Roster Social Science courses may be categorized as either Family Studies or History. If your second teachable falls under Social Science (e.g. psychology history law family studies etc.) we request that you include a copy of your transcript(s) in your online application as this may be required in determining your eligibility. If all of your courses fall under Family Studies or History you would be required to obtain an additional qualification outside of Social Science in order to be considered for the Secondary Occasional Teacher Roster.

If you are not currently a member in Good Standing with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) (e.g. STATUS - Inactive Non Practicing due to Non Payment of Fees) your application may be considered although you would not be eligible to participate in the Selection Process or added to the Occasional Teacher Roster until membership is confirmed.
If you are applying to both Elementary and Secondary Occasional Teaching at YRDSB you will only be eligible to be on one (1) of the two (2) Occasional Teaching Rosters. Therefore it is important that you prioritize which list you prefer (Elementary or Secondary) as once you accept a position on the Occasional Teacher Roster your application will be inactivated from the other teacher job posting(s).

Important Information for CUPE 1734 Members:
LA.11.7 Those twelve (12) month employees filling vacancies as a result of their applying to a job posting are to remain twelve (12) months at their position. Ten (10) month employees are to remain in their position until the end of the school year. This requirement can be waived with permission from the Superintendent responsible for Human Resource Services. This does not prevent employees from applying for a position or from applying for a promotion during the twelve (12) month period.
Applicants will be deemed to have the educational qualifications according to the job description for the classification they are currently in as per the terms of the current CUPE Local 1734 Collective Agreement. Permanent CUPE 1734 applicants will be considered first in the selection process.
We will accept satisfactory PVSCs that name any other school board and other employers (daycare centers OCT and employers that would require a police check for vulnerable persons) in Ontario and obtained within the last six (6) months.
