ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: Under the administrative direction and oversight of the Park Superintendent II will assist in managing and supervising the maintenance grounds keeping horticultural and administrative duties at Windmill SRA and War Axe SRA. Responsibilities will include grounds keeping cultural and natural resource management trail maintenance tree work and oversight of assigned visitor activities. Assist in the hiring training and supervision of a seasonal workforce for assigned areas of responsibility ensuring equal opportunity and labor law compliance for all employees and volunteers supervised. Assist with park activities and features to include operation and procedural functions performing preventive maintenance on equipment and features assisting patrons with safety education comments and concerns special events operation and maintenance of overnight campgrounds partner development and park promotion. As assigned assist with facility and equipment maintenance asset management compliance mandates visitor/employee protection and safety enforcement activities and public relations tasks. Essential duties will sometimes be conducted in the evening hours.



Requirements / Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree in park/recreation management or a related field(wildlife fisheries natural resources sciences public administration history cultural resource preservation or interpretation travel and tourism and planning) AND one year of related experience. Related coursework/training and/or experience in park/recreation management or related field may substitute for the Bachelors degree on a year-for-year basis.



KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of: the principals and techniques of supervision; federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to park administration; the operation and maintenance of park facilities and equipment; procedures and techniques of maintenance and repair of building facilities and equipment; basic knowledge of plumbing and electrical running and operating a chainsaw and various computer programs that can support assigned duty requirements.

Skills in: Communicating with individuals and groups to collect and relay information or make work assignments; listening and understanding others; prioritizing workloads; public speaking and conflict resolution.

Ability to: Follow directions and assimilate information; plan assign supervise and evaluate the work of supervised staff; apply federal and State laws and regulations pertaining to park operations; interpret applyand enforce park rules and regulations for visitors and staff; operate basic computer software and hardware.
