Summary
The HVAC Technician specialized in the installation of HVAC systems that use direct expansion refrigerant technology. These systems include split systems rooftop units and mini-splits. This role requires a blend of technical knowledge hands-on skills and safety awareness. It involves working from blueprints and mechanical drawings to install ductwork equipment piping and controls in accordance with project specifications safety codes and industry standards
Essential Duties
- Understanding of DX system types split systems packaged rooftop units (RTUs) VRF/VRV systems mini-split systems.
- Familiarity with components such as Compressors condensers evaporator coils TXVS/EEVs refrigerant lines and controls
- Basic computer knowledge being able to input information required to execute your daily tasks
- Layout and install refrigeration piping and drain lines following manufacturer specs and job plans.
- Mount and secure air handlers condensing units and other components.
- Pressure test evacuate and charge systems with appropriate refrigerants.
- Set and level rooftop units using cranes or lifts.
- Insulate refrigerant lines and verify for leak-free performance.
- Perform/Assist with equipment start-up (AHUs EFs Pumps Boilers Chillers etc.) ensuring it operates per specifications.
- Wire up control panels thermostats disconnects and relays.
- Demonstrate proper use of Safety Equipment at all times
- Ability to manage time and workload effectively
- Flexibility to work overtime/weekends as needed
- Flexibility to work out of town as needed
Non-Essential Duties
- Use self-initiative to remain current with industry trends (engage in webinars virtual conferences educational reading etc.)
- Accept and perform other work as assigned
- Familiarity with CHW & HHW systems

- Ability to read blueprints and coordinate installation according to layout.
- Willingness to train apprentices or assist less experienced installers.
- Must not have a fear of heights (Acrophobia)
Licenses/Certifications
- EPA 608 Certification (Type II or Universal)
- 3 years experience installing HVAC DX systems.
- Valid Florida Drivers License is required
- Incumbent must be insurable at all times by CES insurance carrier
- OSHA 10 certification preferred but not required
- Factory training or certification on equipment start-up and or commissioning preferred
