Job Description

Title: Controls Engineer III

Pay Rate: $37.27 $48.85/hour (DOE)
Employment Type: 1-year Contract

Est. End Date: June 6 2026
Schedule: Monday Friday 8:00 AM 5:00 PM

Tekberry is looking for a Controls Engineer III to work on-site with our client a leading global manufacturing company In this role you will join a highly collaborative automation engineering team supporting the production of optical fiber. You will manage modify and develop control systems used on the production floor contribute to process improvements and support capital projects. As a W2 employee you will have access to health benefits.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily production support and troubleshooting for a 24/7 manufacturing operation.
  • Interface with technicians operators and engineers to ensure the reliable performance of automation systems.
  • Develop and modify control systems for manufacturing equipment using computer and PLC programming (VB .NET C real-time systems).
  • Participate in or lead projects to meet plant goals drive cost savings and expand capacity.
  • Train engineers and production associates on new systems and processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance system performance and reduce downtime.
  • Provide support during off-hours on a limited on-call basis.
  • Ensure systems are well-documented and aligned with safety and quality standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Computer Engineering Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years of experience in a technical or controls engineering role.
  • Hands-on knowledge of computer programming and PLC systems including VB .NET C and real-time platforms.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting low voltage electrical systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving collaboration and documentation skills.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work with stakeholders at all levels.

Preferred:

  • Experience with manufacturing automation SCADA systems (iFIX TwinCAT) and motion control.
  • Background in SCADA EthernetIP I/O and real-time control environments.
  • Familiarity with MS Windows Microsoft Office and industrial network protocols.
  • Experience integrating computer-based control systems to increase manufacturing efficiency.
  • Exposure to capital project execution and process improvement initiatives.
