Job Title: Central Sterile Supply Technician (Day Evening and Night Shifts) Location: Walter Reed National Military Medical Center Bethesda MD Start Date: October 1 2025 Work Schedule:
  • Day Shift:
  • Evening Shift:
  • Night Shift:
  • 8 12-hour shifts rotating weekly; coverage includes weekdays and weekends as needed.
Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma or GED Certificate
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of sterile processing experience within the past 4 years
  • License/Certification: Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) and BLS/CPR certification
Responsibilities
  • Communicate effectively in English with staff and patients
  • Apply microbiology and aseptic principles to sterilization processes
  • Operate disassemble and clean surgical instruments and medical devices
  • Select and perform appropriate decontamination and sterilization methods (e.g. STERRAD V-Pro EO steam)
  • Rotate through all areas of Sterile Processing Department (SPD): Decon Assembly Case Cart Sterilizers QA Clinics and Storage
  • Monitor sterilizer operation using biological and chemical indicators
  • Package label and store sterilized supplies for OR clinics L&D and wards
  • Lift push and pull items up to 300 lbs and work in both clean and contaminated areas using PPE
  • Follow Joint Commission DoD CDC and facility-specific infection control and safety guidelines
  • Document sterilization procedures and equipment usage accurately
  • Use MHS GENESIS and CENSITRAC systems (training provided)
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient safety
  • Participate in orientation in-service training safety drills and performance improvement initiatives
  • Support readiness emergency responses and maintain professional competencies
