Job Title: Registered Nurse OB/GYN/PACU Location: Walter Reed National Military Medical Center Bethesda MD Start Date: October 1 2025 Work Schedule: Rotating 8 10-hour shifts betweenQualifications
  • Education: Bachelors degree of Registered Nursing.
  • Experience: Must have at least 2 current years of experience as OB/GYN and Medical-Surgical Nurse on an inpatient surgery ward or outpatient surgery center and at least one (1) year of Critical Care experience. The expectation is to be able to manage the care of a potentially critical patient for up to two (2) hours.
  • Certifications: BLS ACLS PALS Certifications are required.
  • Board Certification: The institution will be from a National League of Nursing (NLN) approved program. Successfully pass the NCLEX exam. Copy of Certificate and license required. Have successfully completed a Post-Anesthesia Care course/training program or is nationally certified as a Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse (CP AN); Will at a minimum be Board Eligible.
Responsibilities
  • Provide post-anesthesia care for patients receiving general regional or moderate sedation
  • Monitor and manage critically ill patients including use of ventilators cardiac monitors & invasive lines
  • Perform age-appropriate nursing care for patients from infants to geriatrics
  • Administer medications and titrate vasoactive drugs per protocols
  • Assess plan implement and evaluate individualized patient care
  • Document patient assessments interventions and outcomes in electronic medical records (CHCS AHLTA ESSENTRIS)
  • Operate specialized equipment (e.g. PCA epidural pumps NG tubes wound vacs)
  • Educate patients and families on procedures recovery and discharge plans
  • Assist in emergency response situations and crisis intervention
  • Participate in staff orientation safety infection control and quality improvement initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA Joint Commission OSHA and hospital policies
  • Float to other perioperative areas as needed and qualified
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings committees and staff development training
  • Support secure documentation practices and proper handling of narcotics and controlled substances.
