Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced Construction Inspection Engineer to oversee the inspection of roads bridges and related infrastructure for county city and other local government agencies.

The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering background (geotechnical structural or pavement-related) and a proven track record in field inspection and quality assurance.

Tasks

Conduct on-site inspections of roads bridges and municipal infrastructure projects.
Ensure compliance with AASHTO and ASTM standards for construction and pavement inspection.
Monitor foundation installations for bridges and retaining walls; prior geotechnical inspection experience is a plus.
Supervise and document materials testing including pavement cores soil compaction and concrete quality.
Utilize nuclear density gauges and electrical density gauges for field compaction testing (a plus).
Review contractor work to ensure adherence to plans specifications and safety standards.
Prepare inspection reports technical documentation and compliance evaluations.
Coordinate with government agencies contractors and project stakeholders.

Requirements

PE License in Illinois (Required).
10 years of experience in construction inspection roads bridges or pavement engineering.
Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or a related field (Masters is a plus).
Strong knowledge of AASHTO and ASTM standards related to construction inspection.
Experience with geotechnical foundation inspections (preferred).
Familiarity with nuclear density gauges and electrical density testing (preferred).
Ability to interpret engineering drawings specifications and materials testing results.
Strong technical writing and communication skills.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
