This role is responsible for managing the day-to-day people elements of Flight crew for a designated base. Primarily the role will manage standards as well as driving a performance culture by developing a high performing team and an engaged workforce. The role will lead face to face communication with crew drive pilot development and leadership and assess teams against performance criteria and measures. This role will work with the Base Operations Manager in developing and implementing local projects that support change and an efficient operation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for managing the day to day operational and people elements of Flight crew for a designated base
- Management of all analysis and assessment of relevant Flight Operations facilities/procedures to optimise the business outcome of operations while ensuring compliance with company & regulatory requirements
- Manages relationships with vendors and suppliers which may include contracting sourcing negotiations performance reviews etc. to ensure relationship and contractual obligations are met
- Collaborate closely with strategic partners to ensure smooth service delivery with minimal disruption on time and to budget and drive improvements where identified
- Manage and implement standards policies and procedures for operations which may include crew establishment customer service resourcing safety communications etc. to ensure best practice level of operational performance that complies with all requirements
- Manage all disciplinary issues where there is both formal and informal performance matters that may lead to termination of employment. Provide advice on the most appropriate outcomes to manage performance
- Support and contribute to change management conservation and efficiency initiatives to support continuous improvement and optimisation
- Provide leadership over large workforce and advocate the teams value with the business to deliver effective and efficient service outcomes
- Comply with Group Management Systems and Policy
Essential criteria
- 7 years experience
- Tertiary qualified to degree level or equivalent industry experience
- Business knowledge
- Detailed understanding of operations across the Qantas Group and how these diverse functions interact with the external environment.
- Detailed understanding of Flight Operations Policy and Procedures and Aviation Regulations (CASA IOSA).
- Detailed knowledge of flight crew awards and agreements and their interoperability with the operational environment.
- Knowledge of the systems and resources that support Flight Operations
- Experience in departments such as Flight Dispatch Aircrew Operations Operations Control and Flight Training.
- An ability to represent Qantas Flight Operations at a senior level in political aviation and community circles.
- Highly developed negotiation influencing and problem solving & analytical skills.
- Demonstrated sound practical judgement and innovation.
- Demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships with key stakeholders Ability to manage multiple time sensitive tasks to effective conclusion.
