JOB DESCRIPTION
St. John Paul II Academy in South Surrey is seeking a highly organized detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to join our team on a part-time basis starting September 1 2025.
This important role supports the financial integrity of the Foundation and the broader mission of Saint John Paul II Academy providing accurate and timely accounting services in alignment with Ministry of Education audit requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage full-cycle bookkeeping including General Ledger Accounts Receivable (A/R) and Accounts Payable (A/P)
- Administer payroll accurately and on schedule
- Conduct online banking and manage cash flow processes
- Prepare and issue monthly financial reports
- File GST returns semi-annually
- Reconcile bank accounts and process journal entries (cash and non-cash)
- Compile the annual audit package and assist auditors during the mandatory Ministry of Education audit
- Provide administrative and accounting support as needed
- Prepare the year-end tuition and donation tax receipts
Qualifications:
- Proven experience with full-cycle accounting
- Familiarity with QuickBooks (preferred)
- Proficiency in Google Drive/Sheets and Microsoft Excel/Word is essential
- Experience with payroll administration is an asset
- Strong attention to detail discretion and ability to meet deadlines
Compensation:
This position is aligned with the 2025/2026 CISVA salary scale for bookkeepers:
- Hourly Rate: $28.24 $39.39 (based on experience and qualifications)
