None/Not RequiredCollins Aerospace is seeking qualified candidates for an experienced systems engineer to lead the development of our graphical flight planning and display software product line in our Military Avionics & Helicopters Flight Management Applications department located in Cedar Rapids Iowa.
Our teams are comprised of cross-functional engineers working in an AGILE environment focused on the design and development of Flight Management Software Applications.
Product Summary:
CAAS/Flight 2 Flight Management Solutions - Our signature products for Military Avionics and Helicopters as part of the Collins Integrated Avionics Systems fielded on thousands of aircraft today at this moment. Specific capabilities include FMS (Flight Management Systems) Performance Application System Manager Comm Flight Director and Flight Controls. Please see the following links for more details:
- YOU will do:
- You will lead the development and continuous advancement of graphical flight planning and display applications ensuring they meet the rigorous demands of military avionics.
- You will drive the product life cycle from road mapping and proposal creation to design testing and sustainment.
- You will develop and communicate detailed implementation plans securing stakeholder buy-in at all levelsfrom team members to external customers.
- You will identify and mitigate risks while capturing opportunities to enhance product capabilities and market reach.
- You will champion knowledge sharing elevating department expertise through both formal training and informal mentoring.

Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically requires a degree in Science Technology Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree 12 years of relevant experience
- U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
- Proven experience in the design and development of deliverable software ideally within a production or consumer-facing environment.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Experience with DO-178 or similar certification-based development processes.
- Familiarity with ARINC 661 DOORS and Python scripting.
- Experience in developing avionics displays and/or Flight Management Systems (FMS).
- AGILE development methodology experience.

The salary range for this role is 101000 USD - 203000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
