About the Role:

The Second Shift Utility Position will be responsible for moving and unloading trailers. They will work with the Loader Operator Commercial Plant Unloaders and Baler Operator to coordinate trailer movements when necessary. This position is required to monitor the arrival of trailers during second shift. They will directly report to the Single Stream Operations Manager.

Responsibilities:

Shift Coordination & Planning

• Attend scheduled turnover meetings and obtain the shift pass-down sheet.
• Check in with the Operations Manager to plan and prioritize daily tasks.

Equipment Preparation & Maintenance

• Perform pre-operational checks on spotter trucks and forklifts.
• Conduct routine cleaning and minor maintenance of equipment and operating areas (e.g. metering bin under ramp).

Trailer & Material Handling

• Unload walking floor and Quincy trailers.
• Break Quincy bales on the tip floor following all safety procedures.
• Communicate with loader and baler operators regarding trailer status and needs.
• Monitor dock activity and ensure timely trailer swaps based on the pass-down sheet and operational demands.

Waste & Material Disposal

• Empty metal dumpsters located throughout the facility
• Remove Gaylords containing metal or recyclable materials as needed.

Facility Cleanliness & End-of-Shift Duties

• Maintain cleanliness around workstations and equipment.
• Stage and reposition trailers (e.g. commingled trailer on ramp).
• Park equipment securely and check out with the shift supervisor before leaving.

Additional Job Duties as Necessary

• Moving trailers and equipment for Maintenance
• Cleaning loading docks and ramp area
• Emptying dumpsters
• Monitor the unloading of trailers and anticipate movements
• Any tasks assigned by Single Stream Manager Commercial Plant Manager or Team lead
• All additional jobs needing done as necessary based on below specific certifications

Minimum Job Qualifications:

• Forklift Certification
• Loader Certification
• Spotter Certification
• Lock Out Tag Out Certification

Shift:

• 3PM-11:30PM
• Monday-Friday
• Saturdays as necessary
• On call as necessary
