We are seeking a Tax Collection Supervisor to manage motivate and lead the team of 7 staff through the workflow of the Property Tax Collection Unit. This supervisor is responsible for coordinating the printing and mailing of over 300000 tax statements annually. They oversee the proper posting of all mailed in tax payments totaling over $1 billion in tax revenue. In addition they oversee collection of delinquent tax pursuant to ORS 311 and 312 amongst other functions.

As a Program Supervisor in the Tax Collections unit in the Division of Assessment Recording and Taxation (DART) your role will be to:

  • Supervise the Tax Collection Team consisting of 7 full time employees

  • Provide excellent direct customer service to internal and external customers regarding the collection and processing of property tax payments bankruptcies foreclosures personal property and machinery and equipment collection

  • Act as an agent for the County securing the Countys interest in bankruptcy court that involve both real and personal property

  • Direct and supervise the collection of delinquent personal property machinery and equipment and centrally assessed properties

  • Ensure the process for taking title to real property due to delinquent property taxes is initiated and completed annually

  • Oversee payment remittance processing ensuring efficient work flow from receipt through timely deposit

  • Oversee the processing of manufactured structure ownership changes pursuant to the guidelines of the Building Codes Division of Oregon

This recruitment may be used to fill full-time part-time temporary limited duration and on-call positions.

Type of Position: This is a salary non-represented position that is not eligible for overtime.

Hybrid Telework: After the initial training / orientation period this position is designated with some hybrid telework meaning you will have the opportunity to occasionally work remotely (from home) though most work will occur at our onsite location. The designation of Hybrid Telework may be subject to change at a future time. All employees must reside in Oregon or Washington; the county cannot support ongoing telework from other locations. The onsite work location for this position is the Multnomah Building: 501 SE Hawthorne Blvd. Portland OR 97214.

Schedule: Monday - Friday; There may be some flexibility with scheduling and daily start and end times.
