Framatome is a major international player in the nuclear energy market recognised for its innovative solutions and value-added technologies for designing building maintaining and advancing the global nuclear fleet. The company designs manufactures and installs components fuel and instrumentation and control systems for nuclear power plants and offers a full range of reactor services.
EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) is a subsidiary of Edvance which is a joint venture between EDF and Framatome established in 2018 in charge of the design and the realisation of nuclear islands for new projects in France and worldwide.
In particular EDF EPR-E UK is responsible for the design and construction of the nuclear island for Hinkley Point C (HPC) project and preparing the design replication and engineering activities for the Sizewell C (SZC) Project.
At HPC we are building two new nuclear reactors the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.
We are looking to recruit for the role of HPC Head of Project Controls.
The Project Control manager reports directly to the HPC NI project director. Under the operational responsibility of the Project Control Manager the service coordinates the activities of all entities of the HPC NI project in the following areas:
Schedule Management
Cost Control Management
Contracts Management (with the client and engineering service providers as well as internally between EDV SAS and now EPR-E)
Delivery Monitoring and Support
Reporting consolidation and Committees Management
Risks and Opportunities Management
Change Management (including all aspects related to project control).
Additionally the project control team is responsible for aggregating the contributions of the CI/BOP lot as part of the technical integration activities that the CI/BOP lot subcontracts to Edvance. The Edvance HPC project control team is organized into four teams:
The Schedule Management Team (TST)
The Cost Risks Opportunities and Changes Management Team (CROC)
The Project Management Support Team (ProMS)
The Contract (GenCo541) and Service Agreements Management Team.
The project control manager supervises and coordinates the activities of his/her team. He/She is mainly responsible for:
Organizing and scheduling the activities covered by their scope
Managing resources in the short/medium/long term including the realization of yearly appraisals at the beginning of the year for internal resources and managing or contributing to the management of contractors resources
Managing the performance (quality cost time) of their team thus being responsible for the associated budget and validating Change Requests in accordance with the delegation level of the Project Director
Structuring cross-functional coordination and harmonization of methods within their operational team particularly in the context of the change process and in close connection with contractual mechanisms
Supporting the continuous improvement of their operational teams activities etc
General and technical background expected
At least 10 years of experience in projects and tenders
Project management experience in roles such as project manager and/or project control manager
Knowledge of the main project disciplines (Engineering Procurement Construction etc.)
Experience in projects in an international context
Organization rigor and synthesis skills
Interpersonal skills ability to work and lead a network ability to coordinate a team
Ability to relay alerts follow required action plans anticipate risks/opportunities/mitigation measures
