Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

Provide instructional design development and evaluation services to faculty in order to support the successful use of digital learning and educational technologies for Richmond Higher Education Institutions (RHEI). Will assess instructional design and digital learning needs and opportunities to be able to provide individual and faculty wide training to meet those needs.

Essential Job Functions

1. Partner with and support faculty in the development of instructional materials that are functional informative and consistent with sound pedagogical and instructional design principles in accordance with the course development and revision procedures.
2. Collaborate and consult with faculty on the effective use of digital learning and educational technology to improve teaching in all courses and evaluate the instructional effectiveness of programs courses and training products. Support faculty with all recording and production needs.
3. Conduct individual and group training and coaching for faculty to meet instructional design and development learning opportunities and needs.
4. Create and maintain documentation for faculty and staff on pedagogy course design tools and techniques for teaching and learning.
5. Serve on assigned committees. Assist the Information Technology Department to provide technical resources facilitate creation and delivery of multimedia course components and to coordinate use of technologies.
6. Research and evaluate new and emerging digital technologies instructional design theories and approaches for potential application to instructional opportunities.
7. Support the learning management system (LMS) technical owner and business owner in helping faculty optimally use the LMS.
8. Support the RHEI with meeting accreditation and regulatory standards.
9. Collaborate and consult with other instructional designers at Bon Secours and other institutions.
10. Perform related duties as assigned.

Employment Qualifications

Required Minimum Education:

  • 4 year/ Bachelors Degree

Specialty/Major:

  • Instructional design technology distance education education technology digital learning or a related field.

Preferred Education:

  • Graduate Degree (Masters)

Specialty/Major:

  • Instructional design technology distance education education technology digital learning or a related field.

Licensure/Certification Required:

  • None

Licensure/Certification Preferred:

  • Quality Matters Teaching Online Certificate; Instructional Design Certification

Minimum Years and Type of Experience:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in distance education and instructional design.

Other Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Successful online teaching (preferably at the collegiate level). Experience with learning management systems and course management software.

Other Knowledge Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Online teaching experience in healthcare education.
