The Religious Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the religious activities and services for the female youth at YRTC-Hastings campus:

  • Completes religious preference assessments for youth upon intake.
  • Assists youth in interpreting and integrating religion in their overall programming.
  • Coordinates both on and off campus religious services/activities.
  • Organizes both on and off campus mentor volunteer guest speaker and community activities/events.
  • Works closely with community religious programs and service organizations.
  • Works with youth individually and in groups on religious education and religious counseling.
  • Participates in staff meetings to educate and collaborate with staff on religious/volunteer opportunities.
  • Coordinates and teaches other programming for the facility as needed.
  • Monitors youth during mentor volunteer guest speaker and community activities/events.

Hourly rate is $22.912/per hour plus $3.00/per hour for every hour worked at the facility.



This position requires proficiency in English including the ability to read write speak and comprehend the language effectively.

Requirements / Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: Post high school coursework and/or experience in theology sociology psychology counseling or other behavioral sciences areas.

Other: Must be at least 21 years of age possess a high school diploma or equivalent and valid drivers license.

Work schedule: Sunday-Thursday 11:00a.m. to 7:00p.m. Friday/Saturday days off

Knowledge of: the goals laws rules policies and operations pertinent to the agency and/or division; the psychological mental religious and social needs of individuals within the institution.

Ability to: coordinate and/or perform the religious rites practiced by various religious groups; develop treatment goals for individuals within the state institution; plan meaningful worship services; counsel with institutional individuals their families and staff members; communicate both orally and in writing; the religious rites beliefs and practices of the major religious organizations; the principles and practices of clinical pastoral care including counseling basic psychology sermon preparation the basic principles of developmental theory and group dynamics community religious organizations and resources; assess the religious needs of individuals; develop policies goals and standards for the operation of the religious program; recruit train and supervise volunteers; organize and coordinate a program involving the religious needs of many separate and different religious preferences.
