Eastern Carolinas #1 news station WITN News is seeking a dynamic full-time Digital Content Producer. Do you want to be a leader Were looking for someone to help develop our digital team and take us to the next level! This person will produce engaging content for our digital and social platforms. The ideal candidate has a knack for news and speaks the social media language. This position is not for someone who wants to sit around and wait for the news to come to them! It is for someone who loves being within driving distance of some of the best beaches our country has to offer! The successful candidate must be driven creative and an active content creator. We are looking for a top-notch journalist who can write a news story for the web quickly in AP Style and without errors. Candidates must be able to learn and retain knowledge on complex processes such as sending out breaking news alerts organizing content on our website and mobile app setting up a livestream on our website and Facebook page finding and creating engaging web graphics and more. The person should also understand how to use monitoring and management tools for social publishing and reporting. This person should also have a passion for TV with the ability to craft compelling rundowns that emphasize urgency immediacy breaking news and weather. An ideal candidate will bring strong creative ideas and build innovative and engaging content in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment. If youre a positive driven news junkie this job is for you!
Duties/Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Writes AP-style news stories daily for the web
Sends breaking news and trending push alerts
Ensures factual grammatical and legal accuracy online and upholds the stations established journalistic standards to avoid editorial bias
Coaches and collaborates with reporting staff to take advantage of the presentation of their stories on the website and on social media
Has knowledge of and uses effective SEO practices
Regularly reviews web metrics and adjusts content to optimize the display of the site to viewer interests
Communicates effectively with producers to incorporate web and social elements into newscasts
Posts engaging content on Facebook Twitter and Instagram
Creates memes videos and graphics for social engagement
Utilizes analytics to track trends and make daily decisions
Live-stream events
Plans and builds special site sections and features that highlight coverage link platforms and encourage user engagement
Edits video using non-linear software; knowledge of Edius preferred
Produces television newscasts as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements:
Strong verbal/written communications skills and knowledge of AP Style required
The ability to work well under pressure and with a diverse group of people is required
Flexibility and on-the-spot problem-solving abilities required
Ability to balance the demands of both long and short-term projects while meeting daily deadlines required
College degree in journalism preferred
Solid understanding of social media and analytics preferred
1-2 years of newsroom and digital content producing experience preferred
Willingness to work flexible shifts and be on call required
