Job Duties
Western State Hospital is seeking a full time IT Specialist I who will provide system technical support for specialized network infrastructure applications and systems within Western State Hospital (WSH) and the Commonwealth Center for Children and Adolescents. These include but are not limited to the staff and patient access and tracking systems (AMAG OSSI Centrak SARA) patient internet access (Broadband service) clinical applications (EHR Dental Lab Rehab Pharmacy etc.) and the segregated Building Automation System network infrastructure.
This position will also work with users to resolve computer/network related problems within an hour after the request has been submitted to IT Helpdesk; provide support in developing implementing operating maintaining and testing LAN/WAN solutions; troubleshoot networked application communication issues; complete documentation of system and user guides related to network system modification within 24 hours; and communicate with hospital staff and vendors effectively so that they understand the problem(s) and the successful solution to that problem(s).

Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma/equivalent or equivalent hands-on experience (E.g. Internship/help desk or lab-based coursework)
- Knowledge and/or Experience with Desktop and/or server hardware and software installation configuration and troubleshooting
- Knowledge and/or experience of Network fundamentals (LAN/WAN TCP/IP basic routing/switching)
- Operating systems (Windows and/or macOS) and standard productivity suites (e.g. Office 365)
- Basic knowledge of internet security principles and best practices
- Ability to diagnose and resolve common technical issues
- Interest in and desire to learn about information technology
