The Company
Our client is a privately owned boutique building contractor that specialises in Commercial & Industrial methodology as well Large Townhouse projects and Medium Rise Apartments. Based in central Brisbane they have projects across South East QLD including the Sunshine Coast. The company currently turns over $50m per annum but has steady growth planned based on the sheer volume of high quality negotiated projects on the horizon.
The Role
Due to this forecast growth in what is an exciting time for the business they are looking to add a new Estimator to the team.
As the Estimator you will predominantly be pricing townhouses commercial and industrial projects up to $20m. You will also price the occasional medium rise apartments and other bespoke projects as required. You will benefit from reporting directly to the General Manager no layers of bureaucracy or red tape to manage just efficient decision making and clear direction.
Most of the work is negotiated so it will be rare for you to be hard dollar tendering against other builders. This result is less strict deadlines however requires the Estimator to be self-motivated and client facing. Cost planning is also consistent to support the negotiated workflow to ensure projects are viable.
You will also work on live projects dealing directly with CAs and assisting them with their trade letting and variation assessments as required. Our client adopts a collaborative approach between estimating > CA > sites across all projects.
About You.
You will have a tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management.
You will have experience in the Brisbane market and come with excellent references.
You will be a humble team player that doesnt take themselves too seriously!
You will be proficient with CostX and have 4 years pricing similar projects scope consistently Townhouse experience is a must have.
The ideal candidate will have come from a QS background but will have transitioned into a principal contractor as a building estimator. You will have experience cost planning.
Remuneration and Career Prospects
Due to the exciting period of growth forecast the natural progression for this role will be a seat at the Senior Management Team table as the Pre-Contracts Manager
There is a starting salary of up to $140k Super for the right candidate.
