ASO CHAIR & ASO/PROF
The Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Florida College of Medicine Gainesville is seeking a committed faculty member with a passion for research at the tenure or non-tenure accruing rank of senior Associate/Full Professor for the position of Associate Chair of Anesthesiology for Research.
The Associate Chair of Anesthesiology for Research encompasses a senior leadership role for the department dedicated to advancement through exploration discovery and excellence in new knowledge and to nurturing this advancement in others. The efforts in research are to direct and support the preeminent vision and mission of the Department of Anesthesiology. Our research focuses on optimizing anesthetic management critical care medicine pain medicine and other strategic research goals to develop applicable near or longer-term therapeutic options with the overarching goal of reducing pain suffering morbidity and mortality. A challenge to the next Associate Chair will be to further enhance growth within existing nodes of excellence while also integrating the department into new opportunities not only on the academic campus but also around the regional healthcare network and State of Florida.
The candidate should be an accomplished faculty members with a track record of success in inquiry funding mentorship administration budgetary awareness and one who inspires others with the impact of research. The Associate Chair must interact well with basic scientists with varied expertise biostatistician/protocol development personnel clinical research coordinators a large clinical faculty with varied experiences to research. The Department of Anesthesiology is one of the largest Department in the College of Medicine and the Associate Chair must interact with leaders throughout the University and COM to represent the departments academic vitality.
Ultimately the Associate Chair must inspire through mentorship structures for young faculty residents and allied healthcare professionals to pose valuable questions seek answers and to think beyond present day horizons. An individual with unique energy or inspirational vigor for inquiry is sought to help lead the UF Department of Anesthesiology forward in its pursuit of excellence.
Academic rank and compensation will be commensurate with the candidates experience scholarly accomplishments.
This position requires a terminal degree such as PhD MD DO etc.
This position is for the level of senior Associate/Full Professor rank. If MD or equivalent ABA certification/eligibility and credentials to obtain a State of Florida physicians license.
