PeopleTec is currently seeking a Software Architect/Engineer to support our Huntsville AL location.
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Software Architect/Engineer to support the Multi-Domain Automated Capability Suite (MDACS) and Combined Army Multi-Domain Capabilities Lab (CAML) within the Rapid Capabilities and Critical Technologies Office (RCCTO). The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in modern software development systems integration and architecture design along with a strong understanding of real-time mission-critical environments.
This position requires a collaborative approach to problem-solving and the ability to work alongside cross-functional teams in designing and implementing scalable secure and reliable software systems that support Army modernization efforts.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Software Architecture & Design: Collaborate on the design and implementation of software systems that support MDACS and CAML objectives. Contribute to solutions that ensure scalability reliability and performance in distributed environments.
API Development & Integration: Support the development and maintenance of secure real-time APIs to enable seamless integration between systems. Ensure proper data exchange formats protocols and communication standards.
Algorithm Integration: Assist in implementing and refining algorithms that support decision-making analytics optimization and other mission-critical functions.
Systems Integration: Work with systems engineering teams to ensure software components integrate effectively with broader architectures and meet operational requirements.
Modern Software Practices: Apply Agile methodologies (e.g. Scrum Kanban) support microservices development and follow architectural best practices that promote modularity and reuse.
DevSecOps Implementation: Contribute to the development and maintenance of secure CI/CD pipelines. Implement automation and traceability practices that align with DoD DevSecOps standards.
Interoperability & Data Exchange: Help define and implement interoperability solutions including communication protocols (e.g. HTTP TCP/IP MQTT) and data formats (e.g. JSON XML).
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with developers systems engineers data scientists and mission partners to translate technical requirements into software implementations that align with Army objectives.
Documentation & Reporting: Contribute to technical documentation integration artifacts and progress briefings that support stakeholders and program objectives.
Innovation & Improvement: Stay informed on emerging technologies data architectures and defense-relevant software practices to recommend and support continuous improvements.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
5 years of experience in software engineering architecture or development.
Strong understanding of distributed software systems real-time processing and mission-critical applications.
Experience applying modern data architectures (e.g. data mesh data fabric) in defense or enterprise systems.
Working knowledge of cloud environments and containerization.
Familiarity with DevSecOps principles and Agile frameworks.
Excellent communication problem-solving and organizational skills.
Ability to support multiple concurrent tasks and operate in a fast-paced environment.
U.S. Citizenship and Active Secret Clearance required.
Valid drivers license; travel up to 10%.
EDUCATION:
Bachelors Degree or higher from an accredited institution in Computer Science Software Engineering Systems Engineering or a related field (preferred).
PREFERRED / DESIRED SKILLS:
Experience supporting DoD software systems or development environments.
Familiarity with cloud-native services system integration tools and message-oriented middleware.
Understanding of government cybersecurity requirements and software assurance practices.
Knowledge of C2 systems or tactical software integration (a plus).
Experience with performance testing and system validation activities.
