Middle School Youth Minister
Saint John Neumann Catholic Church exists to offer a life changing encounter with Jesus Christ. Located at 44800 Warren Road in Canton Michigan the parish is home to over 1000 registered families. Position: Middle School Youth Minister & Confirmation Coordinator
Category: Non-Exempt Salary: $18.50 an hour
Position: Part Time (20 hours a week or less) in person
Supervisor: Director of Youth Ministry
Job Summary: The Middle School Youth Coordinator leads the middle school (grades 7-8) youth program and participates in the Confirmation prep program.
Because all Archdiocesan employees represent the Roman Catholic Church they are expected to conduct themselves according to the goals and mission of the Church in performing their work. As such the Middle School Youth Coordinator should be a faithful and practicing Catholic. He/she should demonstrate a love for the particular needs of young people and be an example to them of an individual who lives a morally good life.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Develop and maintain the parish youth program.
- Design a two-year catechesis program that supports lifelong learning into program planning.
- Evaluate AOD curricula standards and ensure implementation. Review with Supervisor.
- Integrate insights from trusted sources in annual audit of curricula. Review with Supervisor.
- Align curricula with annual calendar. Calendar to be shared with volunteers clergy as needed and parents. Review with Supervisor.
- Attend the two annual retreat options for Middle Schoolers.
- Communication.
- Weekly communication with parents and students is desired in the form of a newsletter. Can be printed or emailed. Reviewed by supervisor.
- Annual calendar to be created published and printed by April 30. Reviewed by Supervisor.
- Creation of bulletin/pulpit announcements as needed. Reviewed by Supervisor.
- Develop clear strategies for desired partnerships with All Saints Catholic School as well as youth ministers from Family of Parishes.
- Positive interactions with co-workers as needed.
- Administrative.
- Weekly meetings with supervisor.
- Website maintenance as needed.
- Partner with High School ministry as needed.
- Assist in development of annual budget.
- Tracks and monitor expenses within middle school youth ministry and Confirmation program.
- Plans and develops an annual calendar.
- Stays up to date with Teens in OCIA process specifically those seeking Confirmation.
- Volunteers
- Find train orient and manage volunteers for the middle school ministry program.
- Communicate expectations at annual volunteer training.
- Convey any changes ahead of monthly communication with volunteers.
- Plan and implement volunteer events as needed.
