Job Description

The School of Music is seeking a full-time Administrative Coordinator and Assistant to the Director. This position performs administrative and academic support in the School of Music requiring a high degree of discretion and independent judgment. This position serves as departmental liaison and primary contact for issues concerning faculty staM students alumni and constituents.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Make decisions and exercise a high level of autonomy while typically performing administrative support/management responsibilities for Director of the School of Music including managing schedulesand correspondence.
  • Plan and execute specialized events within the School of Music. (donuts with director emeritus lunches faculty searches)
  • Assist Director in coordination of faculty/staff monthly meetings committee meetings and executive leadership meetings.
  • Coordinate faculty reviews including promotion and tenure and contract renewals.
  • Create concert programs for School of Music events in collaboration with the Music Library and School of Music faculty.
  • Provide strategic assistance and implementation of School of Music goals under the direction of Directorand Performing Arts Administrator.
  • Inform faculty staff and students of important departmental and university-wide events deadlines and policies through email communication.
  • Manage content on the School of Music website and callboard.

Education Required:

  • Bachelors degree or an equivalent combination of education and administrative work experience is required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Some (6 months to 1 year) administrative experience is required.
  • Must be proficient in the use of software applications such as Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of and ability to utilize tools techniques and processes for gathering and reporting data is required.
  • Demonstrated extensive knowledge and application of oral and written communication skills.



Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of university policies procedures and regulations.
  • Administrative experience in a higher education setting.
  • Knowledge of and/or interest in music and the performing arts.
