Do you have recent experience of working with children with complex disabilities and their families in a social care role Would you like to work in an incredibly varied challenging but rewarding role Are you passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of children and young people with complex disabilities living in Suffolk

You will

  • be expected to use your experience knowledge and skills in every engagement with children young people and families to determine the level of intervention required.
  • be responsible for management oversight/supervision of staff and cases where required.
  • play a key role in supporting a robust and positive culture within and team and identifying development and learning opportunities.
  • be responsible for recognising and appropriately responding to safeguarding and risk issues.
  • assist Practice Managers in the supervision of Social Workers and Family Support Practitioners.
  • have responsibility for management decisions within casework you supervise (and for the team functioning in the absence of the Practice Manager or as delegated by the Practice Manager).
  • support the management of the team in respect of systems workloads quality of practice service delivery and development and effective engagement with internal and external partners.
  • receive regular supervision and be part of DCYP management team who will support you. You will be able to access regular training to support and develop you in your role.
  • gain supervisory experience within a social care team working with children with complex disabilities.

You will need

  • to be an experienced social worker ideally with experience of working with children and young people with complex disabilities.
  • enthusiasm to support and/or supervise other practitioners such as social workers students or ASYEs.
  • to have the desire to develop your own knowledge and skills across Children and Adults social care.

The Team

The Disabled Children and Young Peoples team provides statutory social care services to Disabled children and Young People (aged 0-18) which includes Children In Need Children subject to Child Protection Plans and Children in Care.

The team provides consultancy to Early Help Services and as a multi-agency service works in partnership with Health and education colleagues.

We are a small supportive team with a positive culture with many of the social staying with the team gaining many years of experience. We are based in 3 locations within Suffolk but work as a Countywide team. This vacancy is within our team based in Ipswich.
