SSD Engineering is looking for a Senior Process Engineer with a strong delivery record and proven project management experience to own strategic and tactical cross-functional operations and technology projects associated with Sub Same Day (SSD) facilities.
As a Senior Process Engineer for Amazon you will work with some of the most talented engineers in the design development and delivery of physical distribution systems around the globe. You will lead initiatives and complex cross-functional projects or programs that focus on the building of new the alteration of existing and the closing of end-of-life material handling and technology systems.
As a working leader you are able to take the lead on the implementation and delivery of large system designs and advanced technology in ambiguous and complex problem spaces. You integrate systems for safety security stability and efficiency. You participate in the full system development life cycle working within broadly defined parameters including test plan execution and solution quality needs. You must be responsive flexible and able to succeed within an open collaborative environment.

Key job responsibilities
As a Process Engineer II you will
1. Designing Process: Develop new processes or modify existing ones focusing on equipment workflows and material flow select and specify equipment required for the process ensuring it meets productivity goals and safety standards analyze and optimize existing processes to identify areas for improvement to reduce waste increase efficiency and minimize costs.
2. Ensure quality and safety: Develop and implement testing methods to ensure product standards ensure processes adhere to safety regulations and standards and investigate resolve issues that may arise.
3. Collaboration and Communication: partner/ collaborate with critical stakeholders ensuring safety quality and efficiency gains effectively communicate technical information to stakeholders including technical and non-technical audiences.
4. Monitoring and Analysis: monitor process performance collect and analyze data for further improvement leverage data analysis techniques to understand process behaviour trends to make informed decisions.
5. Utilize emerging technologies: leverage process simulation tools to model and analyses processes research and implement new technologies to improve process efficiency and effectiveness.
A day in the life
As a Process Engineer II you will work across organizations to find solutions for complex problems innovating on behalf of our customers. You will be engaged in tactical and some strategic problem solving and decision-making. You will drive efforts individually or in collaboration to optimize productivity prioritizing high impact projects. Your strong communication skills will be required when you present documents and findings to senior leadership. Your experience in conducting root cause analysis will help in implementation of long-term solutions. You will be traveling (50%) to sites to ensure practical outcomes match theoretical ones.
- Experience and strong technical background in relevant fields of automated or non-automated material handling equipment
- Bachelors Degree in Industrial Engineering Mechanical Engineering or other STEM field
- 8 years of experience as a Project Engineer Process Engineer Project Manager Manufacturing Engineer or related occupation
- Experience managing the lifecycle of cross-functional projects implementing automated equipment and/or integrated systems
- Experience with Autodesk Platform Services and allied software (AutoCAD REVIT ACC Rhino Dynamo FlexSim etc.)
- Experience in Lean Management Six Sigma and other operations engineer tools
- Masters degree in Engineering Operations Business Administration or a related STEM field.
- Operations Management/Distribution Center experience.
- Exposure to Six Sigma Lean manufacturing efforts transportation/logistics and/or fulfillment/distribution centers.
- Experience with Simulation software (AnyLogic FlexSIM)
- Direct management or responsibility for material handling automation or technical projects.
- Proven technical leadership for industrial engineering projects or programs.
- Demonstrated design and/or implementation experience with integrated automation solutions such as material handling systems high-speed packaging lines or manufacturing lines.
- Proven technical leadership for large-scale industrial engineering projects or programs

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $107600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $177900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
