What is this role
The Senior Cost Accountant manages cost accounting functions including product cost analysis inventory valuation and cost reporting. This role ensures accurate cost tracking supports decision-making and works closely with cross-functional teams to optimize costs and improve financial performance.
Driving Results:
- Oversee costing processes ensuring accurate product cost calculations and reporting.
- Analyze cost reports to identify variances and recommend cost-saving initiatives.
- Ensure accurate inventory valuation and monitor cost trends.
- Assists with inventory forecasting.
Taking Ownership:
- Manage standard costing and integrate cost data into financial reporting.
- Lead cost analysis projects and maintain cost control policies.
- Ensure timely accurate cost reporting for senior management.
Making Decisions:
- Provide insights to management on cost impact and recommend cost optimization.
- Collaborate with operations teams to improve production cost efficiency.
Cultivating Relationships:
- Work with cross-functional teams to align cost data with production processes.
- Communicate cost structures to internal stakeholders to guide financial decisions.
Instilling Trust:
- Ensure cost accounting practices comply with GAAP and company policies.
- Maintain reliable cost data to support informed decision-making.
Customer Focus:
- Align cost management with customer-driven goals and profitability.
What Background Should You Have
- 5 years in cost accounting or financial roles in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficient in cost analysis standard costing and inventory valuation.
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field
- Strong Excel and ERP system skills experience with Microsoft Dynamics preferred.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills.
