Harvard Recreation managed byHealthFitness is seeking a dedicatedFitness Coordinatorto join our team on campus inCambridge Massachusetts. This role plays a key part in delivering high-quality fitness services with a strong emphasis onpersonal training group exercise instruction facility operations and staff supervision. You will lead and support part-time staff to ensure a safe and engaging environment for all members. In addition you will be responsible for developing planning coordinating marketing and implementing a variety of health and fitness programs and events to maximize participation and engagement. The role also includes direct program delivery such as conducting fitness assessments creating exercise prescriptions providing orientations and maintaining a visible presence on the fitness floor.

40 Hours/wk: M-F with some flexibility. Primarily daytime hours with an occasional weekend shift as needed.

  • Oversees all programming within designated areas; develops coordinates manages implements and evaluates health and fitness programs within specified program areas to maximize participation outcomes and customer satisfaction and supervision of programs services and staff. Supervises and ensures staff is properly trained and certified.

  • Provides personal training and group exercise instruction as applicable; educates participants on proper techniques to maximize exercise safety and effectiveness.

  • Facilitates the close alignment of programs with the clients business needs employee culture and corporate health strategies. Coordinates marketing of programs to maximize outreach and engagement; develops and distributes electronic and print promotional materials to communicate program offerings and special events.

  • Gathers program outcomes data and measures results; evaluates and reports on program effectiveness in meeting objectives and makes recommendations for future program enhancements or modifications.

  • Researches health & fitness educational topics within their specified areas and identifies appropriate participant educational materials.

  • Participates in business planning and budgeting process relating to program and service offerings in their area of expertise.

  • Other duties as needed/assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associates Degree or higher in Exercise Science Health Promotion Kinesiology or related discipline and 1 years related experience OR equivalent combination of education certifications and experience.
  • Current Adult First Aid and CPR/AED certifications from American Heart Association American Red Cross National Safety Council or American Safety & Health Institute. (Note: certification must have an in-person component and not 100% online/OSHA compliant).
  • NCCA Accredited Personal Trainer certification from an Industry recognized and HealthFitness approved agency.
  • Industry recognized Group Exercise certification from ACE AFAA/NASM ACSM NCCPT or NETA; if not current will be required within 6 months of hire.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading coordinating and delivering effective programs including budgeting marketing and promotions.
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work demands.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills including the ability to motivate others.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including at minimum Word Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team with enthusiasm initiative and creativity.
  • Proficiency in fitness assessment and exercise prescription if applicable.

Compensation: $19-25/Hour. Pay is dependent on experience and qualifications. This position has the opportunity to make an additional $400/wk through Personal Training and Group Ex. Instr. NOTE: Actual earnings will vary based on client demand.
