Job Summary:
The At-Risk Facilitator is responsible for supervising students assigned to in-school suspension and ensuring they remain on task with academic assignments while maintaining a structured respectful and orderly environment. The facilitator collaborates with teachers administrators and support staff to ensure students receive appropriate academic support and behavior guidance during their time in ISS.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise students assigned to ISS to ensure a safe structured and focused learning environment.
- Maintain order and reinforce appropriate behavior and school expectations as outlined in the districts student discipline code.
- Distribute and collect academic assignments from classroom teachers and ensure students complete them during their ISS period.
- Monitor student progress and provide academic assistance or guidance as needed.
- Maintain daily attendance and behavioral documentation of students assigned to ISS.
- Communicate regularly with the school principal teachers and counselors regarding student performance and behavior.
- Conduct check-ins with students to support social-emotional needs and help them reflect on behavior and goal setting.
- Ensure students remain engaged in academic work without access to electronic devices unless required for instructional purposes.
- Maintain confidentiality of student records and disciplinary information.
- Maintain a clean organized and distraction-free ISS room.
- Provide feedback to administration on patterns of student misbehavior or academic concerns.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the principal.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; Associates or Bachelors degree preferred.
- Experience working with school-aged children in an educational or behavioral support setting is preferred.
- Strong classroom management and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain composure fairness and professionalism in handling student behavior.
- Basic knowledge of academic subjects to provide support across multiple grade levels and disciplines.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with staff and students.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
- Work is performed in a standard classroom setting.
- Must be able to sit stand and walk for extended periods.
- May require some lifting of instructional materials or student belongings.
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the West Bolivar Consolidated School Districts policies.
