What is the opportunity

The Director Brand CMO Communications will shape strengthen and protect the reputation of RBCs brand. The role will be responsible for leading strategic communications for RBCs EVP and Chief Marketing Officer and RBCs corporate brand and sponsorship campaigns and programs.

Reporting to the Vice President Executive Communications this role will work in close partnership with a broader team that is responsible for CEO and CHRO communications.

What will you do

  • Lead the development and execution of a communications strategy for the CMO including both internal and external channels (e.g. earned and social media conferences internal memos newsletters)
  • Provide strategic advice and communications support for RBCs sponsorships and key brand-building platforms including the RBC Heritage and RBC Canadian Open; the Toronto International Film Festival; the Olympics; RBC Training Ground; RBCxMusic
  • Develop and execute a strategic approach to the Brand Marketing Communications and Citizenship (BMCC) teams events and meetings including overseeing a content and speaker calendar and liaising with internal and external speakers
  • Facilitate the development and execution of the BMCC strategy which includes tracking progress on key strategic priorities and overseeing the planning and preparation of senior leadership (e.g. Operating Committee) meetings and offsites
  • Develop manage and maintain media relationships with reporters in sports marketing arts and business across Canada and the U.S.
  • Anticipate manage and address reputational risks across all branded programs
  • Partner with HR to build and implement employee engagement programs across the group including team-wide initiatives learning and development courses etc.

What do you need to succeed

Must-have

  • A minimum of 10 years communications experience
  • Undergrad/post-grad certificate or equivalent in communications public relations English or related field
  • Strategic thinker with strong business acumen and excellent communications skills written and oral
  • Demonstrated experience supporting senior-level or C-suite leaders
  • Experience in reputational risk and issues management and proactive media relations
  • Effective team player people manager and relationship builder with the ability to influence can work across all levels within a matrixed organization
  • Excellent planning and project-management skills with experience in delivering measurable results
  • Ability to handle ambiguity and move from high level conceptual work to executional detail
