DETAILS ABOUT THIS POSITION:
Educationally Related Mental Health Services Therapist -(Behavior Support Specialist BCBA):
This role supports students with behavioral challenges by developing and implementing effective behavior management strategies. Under the direction of Educational Services or a designated Director the specialist collaborates with educators staff and families to design individualized support plans such as BSPs BIPs 504 Plans and IEPs. The role involves observing student behavior conducting assessments providing case management and offering consultation and training to staff and families. The specialist also supports district-wide behavior initiatives ensures compliance with applicable laws and policies and contributes to a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Masters Degree from an accredited university and/or college with major coursework in social work psychology counseling or closely related field.
Highly desired license as a Marriage and Family Therapist
Experience:
Two years of experience in the behavioral health plan process (direct services treatment plans monitoring of progress and termination of services) including experience providing mental health services to special education students.
Desirable experience:
- Provide mental health therapy services in a California school district
- Provide training to parents school district staff or community-based organizations
- Experience in a school setting implementing Positive Behavior Supports is preferred.
- Medi-Cal charting
Licenses:
Employees in this classification must possess and maintain one of the following: Pupil Personnel Services Credential with a specialization in one of the following: school counseling school social work or school psychology issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing or
- Valid Licensed Marriage Family Therapist (MFT) or
- Valid Licensed Marriage Family Child Counselor (MFCC) or
- Valid Licensed Educational Psychologist (LEP) or
- Valid Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or
- Valid Licensed Psychologist
- Valid Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or equivalent certification (desirable)
