Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our Fund Accounting Team with a focus on fund and fixed asset accounting. This role supports key month-end close activities maintains accurate reconciliations manages fixed and prepaid assets and ensures compliance with accounting standards. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in accrual accounting excellent attention to detail and thrives in a fast-paced collaborative environment.
This position is hybrid and will be located in one of our Centers of Excellence: New Orleans LA; Houston TX; Salt Lake City UT; Denver CO.
Essential Job Functions
- Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations for key balance sheet and income statement accounts.
- Execute month-end and quarter-end close activities accurately and timely using Sage Intacct ERP.
- Maintain and reconcile prepaid asset schedules and related journal entries.
- Own fixed asset accounting including recording additions transfers and disposals of non-solar assets.
- Review asset entries for accuracy and validate monthly depreciation expense calculations.
- Prepare and maintain intercompany accounting schedules.
- Prepare and maintain fixed asset roll-forward schedules by legal entity.
- Provide documentation and support for external audits and internal inquiries related to fixed assets and other key accounts.
- Assist in the development documentation and ongoing refinement of SOPs for owned processes.
- Conduct periodic spot audits to assess effectiveness of internal controls.
- Support the preparation of monthly internal financial reports and ad-hoc analyses as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by leadership.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Accounting required.
- CPA designation preferred but not required.
- 2-4 years of progressive accounting experience with significant experience in fixed asset accounting.
- Strong knowledge of accrual accounting principles GAAP compliance and internal control standards.
- Experience with Sage Intacct or other ERP systems is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; familiarity with Google Workspace preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated adaptability teamwork and a proactive mindset.
Physical Demands
The physical requirements outlined are essential for performing the core duties of this role.
- Primary responsibilities involve regular speaking listening standing walking using hands to handle or feel objects and reaching with arms.
- Occasionally the role may require sitting climbing balancing stooping kneeling crouching or crawling. Employees must be able to frequently lift and move objects weighing up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 40 pounds.
- Vision requirements include the ability to focus at close and long distances distinguish colors maintain peripheral awareness perceive depth and make precise focus adjustments.
