Job Title: Mechanical Engineer
Salary: Up to 47k
Job Type: Permanent
Location: On-site in Reading

Responsibilities:
- Take the lead on designing and developing mechanical components and subsystems for automation projects
- Ensure mechanical designs align with functional requirements and performance goals
- Identify and resolve mechanical issues within existing systems to maintain reliability and efficiency
- Collaborate with electrical software and operations teams to integrate and refine system functionality
- Provide technical guidance and day-to-day support to junior engineers
- Encourage knowledge sharing and contribute to a positive collaborative team culture
- Play an active role in improving engineering processes including design standards tools and workflows
- Support efforts to streamline the development lifecycle and enhance product quality
Requirements:
- 2:1 degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Proven experience designing and building mechanical systems for automation and handling of small components
- Familiarity with high-speed automated systems for material transfer
- Proficient in SolidWorks for mechanical design
Desirable Experience:
- Background in designing durable high-precision system
- Experience with rapid prototyping techniques such as 3D printing
- Developed low-power automated machines or devices such as animatronics vending units or automation in food/pharmaceutical production
