Job Description

Title: Sales Engineer
Compensation: The role offers a first-year guaranteed base of $60K $80K as a draw against commission. Any earnings above that amount are paid out in commission so while the guarantee provides a buffer there is significant opportunity to earn this market a successful salesperson can expect on-target earnings (OTE) of around $150K $200K. After the first year the role transitions to a 100% commission structure with uncapped earning potential.
Location: Savannah Georgia
Travel: Minimal; local focus with occasional in-state meetings and customer visits


About The Job:

Lakeside HR Group has been engaged by a long-standing and highly respected commercial HVAC equipment manufacturer s representative to recruit for a Sales Engineer in Savannah Georgia. This company has been around for decades has an excellent reputation in the market and is backed by a larger parent organization which has fueled continued growth.

This position is focused on sales and account management. You will have an established book of contractor accounts and be responsible for driving revenue growth by managing the full sales cycle from project bidding to delivery while also cultivating strong relationships with contractors and industry partners.

Breakdown of Responsibilities (Approximate Percentages):
  • Sales & Account Management: 90 95%
  • New Business Development: 5 10%
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage 10 15 contractor accounts ensuring customers receive bids on relevant projects and maintaining strong long-term relationships.
  • Drive the sales process by reviewing project specifications preparing bids applying markups and coordinating with inside support to ensure accurate pricing.
  • Serve as the key point of contact for customers throughout the project lifecycle overseeing bids tracking orders and ensuring on-time product delivery.
  • Develop a deep understanding of company product lines (core and applied equipment) to provide technical guidance and solutions to customers.
  • Collect market intelligence on bid day and use competitive insights to position proposals effectively.
  • Focus primarily on maintaining and growing existing accounts with occasional re-engagement of dormant accounts; minimal cold calling required.
  • Spend time on customer-facing activities including site visits contractor meetings and relationship-building events.
Required Skills:
  • Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred or equivalent hands-on HVAC industry experience.
  • 2 years of experience in technical sales system design or consulting strongly preferred.
  • Solid understanding of commercial HVAC equipment applications and system design principles preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust and credibility with contractors engineers and project partners.
  • Resilient and driven comfortable handling rejection while consistently pursuing opportunities and strengthening client relationships.
  • Highly organized and self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple bids projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM systems; familiarity with manufacturer selection software a strong plus.
  • Demonstrated leadership potential with interest in growing into future management responsibilities.
