This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit which develops Blue Origins Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origins mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.Blue Origin is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join the Blue Moon Crew Lander team as the Sr. Manager of Software. This role reports to the Blue Moon MK2 Crew Lander Vehicle Vice President and drives the delivery of all of the software in support of the Crew Lander flight and simulation. In this role you will manage the development of multiple mission and safety-critical software products for the Blue Moon Crew Lander including Vehicle Flight Software Crew Displays and Control Software and Integrated Simulation Software. The Sr. Manager is accountable for leading a team to deliver the full product scope for each software product inclusive of requirements technical performance schedule and budget. The Sr. Manager will manage the day-to-day efforts as well as career development of a talented group of professionals to deliver for our customers.
This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and attention towards safe and reliable spaceflight.

Responsibilitiesinclude but are not limited to:
Define own and control the Crew Lander Software architecture and design directing the technical team and providing technical leadership at the highest caliber.
Define own and control the Software product cost and schedule baseline driving continuous improvement and refinement of the baseline to meet needs and targets in a dynamic development environment.
Develop product roadmaps including incorporation of technologies working with internal and external customers to understand how your product integrates to meet current and future mission needs.
Recruit hire and manage a team of software developers test engineers and system engineers to specify design analyze manufacture integrate test and deliver software components that satisfy mission objectives while balancing cost schedule and risk.
Manage your direct reports professional development (e.g. performance reviews compensation and promotion management routine one-on-one development conversations) and coach them on performance.
Drive excellence in programmatic and project operations through an agile data-driven management approach
Work independently towardlong-range objectives without appreciable direction and determine the technical objectives of assignments to develop approaches to solutions.
Embody promote and coach the Blue Origin leadership principles.
Minimum Qualifications:
10 years managing software technical teams and/or leading functional groups with responsibility for leading and coaching employees.
Expert knowledge of software development languages and lifecycle including at a minimum one of C/C Rust Python and UI/UX design.
Expert knowledge and experience with RTOS and soft real time operating systems and board support packages.
Experience with agile project management methodologies
Experience leading multidisciplinary software development projects including managing requirements priorities scope schedule and cost.
Ability to earn trust maintain positive and professional relationships and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Minimum of a B.S. degree in computer science engineering or another applicable technical field.
Must be a U.S. citizen or national U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder) or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with C Rust Python and UI/UX design
Experience with space vehicle design development verification integration test and mission operations.
Experience with safety-critical software development standards including development for crewed systems under NPR 7150.2D.
Expert knowledge of fault management and autonomy for safety or mission critical systems
Expert knowledge of simulation frameworks and digital twins
Experience knowledge and experience with cyber security controls and practices.
Experience with critical path scheduling IMP/IMS risk management requirements management and Cost Account Management such as EVM.
Compensation Range for:
WA applicants is $191265.00-$267771.00Other site ranges may differ
