The Development Coordinator plays an integral role on the Corporate and Foundation Relations team within the Mass General Development Office providing support to an Assistant Vice President who oversees fundraising for the program and a Director and an Associate Director of Development who fundraise from corporate donors.

The Coordinator liaises with the offices of a selection of senior hospital leaders and proactively manages the planning and oversight of administrative and operational activities for the team troubleshooting and resolving issues independently with an advanced understanding of strategy and projects. With appropriate guidance the Coordinator manages calendars handles preparations for meetings and events processes business expenses and makes travel arrangements when needed. The Coordinator also tracks fundraising actions and activities in a donor database and prepares and distributes team reports.

As a Coordinator you will work alongside fellow management support professionals or MSPs who hold similar support roles in the department. Development MSPs are talented dynamic and valued colleagues who serve as partners and collaborators in teams across the department. As a Mass General Development MSP you will have access to a variety of networking professional development and leadership opportunities.

In addition the ideal candidate will have excellent attention to detail and project management skills and the ability to work well with senior members of the staff. Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
With minimal guidance from the supervisor:
Manages logistics agendas and other materials for meetings events appointments and presentations and troubleshoots issues as needed taking notes and organizing follow-up actions
Manages the calendar of the Assistant Vice President Director and Associate Director keeping them free of scheduling conflicts
Produces and reviews correspondence and other materials interpreting related background information to advise on content and responses as needed
Manages budget and performance management reporting and analysis for the Assistant Vice Presidents extended team
With minimal guidance submits accurate employee expenses and vendor payments using appropriate procedure
Conducts basic prospect identification and research activities working with Prospect Management and Research colleagues to collect relevant information about donors
Gathers and record data and action items in a donor database ensuring thorough documentation of fundraising activity and results independently. Serves as the Information Management Liaison for the CFR team
Completes accurate booking forms for gifts and pledges in a timely manner with minimal feedback providing thorough information and gift backup for the preparation of acknowledgement letters
Manages all aspects of business travel arrangements as needed preparing travel itineraries and troubleshooting and resolving potential conflicts independently
Develops a solid knowledge of philanthropic trends processes and newsworthy events related to corporate and foundation donors and prospects
As needed assists with daily operational activities that may include photocopying scanning organizing mailings distributing letters and packages and occasionally hand-delivering (or picking up) materials to locations around the MGH/Mass General Brigham campuses
Proactively participates in professional development opportunities
Takes on other responsibilities as needed



Qualifications

Qualifications

This position requires 1-2 years of work experience. A college degree is preferred but not required. We are looking for someone who has been successful working in a fundraising office or as part of a team in a client-facing or relationship-building role.

In addition the ideal candidate will possess the following skills abilities and attitudes:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Problem solving skills
  • Strong organizational time management and project management skills
  • Command of Word PowerPoint Excel and Outlook or the ability to learn them quickly
  • Competency using videoconferencing platforms (Zoom and Teams preferred)
  • Proficiency with data entry or data management in a database (Blackbaud CRM or Raisers Edge preferred)
  • Attention to detail
  • Professionalism and a strong work ethic
  • Desire and motivation to learn about the organization and fundraising
  • Awareness of personal work styles in self and others
  • Adaptability and flexibility in times of shifting priorities
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse audiences
  • Creativity and high levels of energy and enthusiasm
  • Commitment to adopting best practices and maximizing efficiency
  • Inclination to build relationships with people inside and outside of the organization
  • Good judgement and care in dealing with confidential information
  • Understanding of development and fundraising practices preferred.
  • Knowledge of the healthcare field preferred.
