Position Summary

The Executive Director for Corporate Engagement reports to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Corporate and Foundation Relations and collaborates closely with the Executive Director of Corporate Relations. The primary responsibility of this role is to achieve key organizational objectives including establishing and managing a university-wide Corporate Coordinating Committee and foster strategic corporate partnerships across the university.

The Executive Director serves as a liaison to the Center for Career Engagement and University Advancements alumni networks team as well as to school/unit-based leaders such as the Director of Industry Relations at the McKelvey School of Engineering and the Associate Dean & Director of Corporate Relations at the Olin School of Business.

This role involves establishing and disseminating university-wide corporate engagement metrics to support and enhance corporate relationships. Additionally the Executive Director will undertake corporate-related projects that benefit schools and units thereby strengthening the universitys holistic relationships with corporations.

This position is critical for fostering effective collaboration among schools and units with the universitys corporate partners and optimizing corporate engagement opportunities.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Foster Holistic and Mutually Beneficial Partnerships: Aim to cultivate comprehensive and mutually advantageous relationships between the university and its corporate partners. These partnerships should encompass various facets such as research collaborations sponsorships student engagement internships career placements and philanthropic support. This will sometimes involve engaging directly with corporate entities to strengthen these partnerships and will sometimes entail working collaboratively behind the scenes with schools and units.
  • Establish and Lead a Corporate Coordinating Committee: Form and manage a university-wide Corporate Coordinating Committee that includes key representatives from various schools and units that engage with corporations and industries. This includes the Center for Career Engagement the Office of Sponsored Research the Office of Technology Management the McKelvey Office of Industry Relations and the University Advancements Office of Corporate Relations. Ensure communication among internal stakeholders promoting collaboration and alignment in corporate engagement efforts across the university with a special focus on the universitys top corporate partners. This dual approach ensures that the universitys collective efforts present a unified and strategic front advancing and deepening corporate engagement.
  • Compile Analyze and Disseminate Comprehensive Metrics: Develop and distribute thorough metrics that evaluate the effectiveness and impact of the universitys comprehensive corporate relationships. Utilize these metrics to guide strategic decisions enhance university-wide engagement and communicate results to university leadership effectively. Attain an in-depth understanding of the unique aspirations goals and success metrics employed by each school and unit in their corporate engagements. Use this knowledge to tailor and integrate university-wide metrics that align with and support these individual objectives.
  • Perform Special Projects: Undertake specialized projects to support schools and units including University Advancement in achieving their comprehensive corporate engagement objectives.
  • Supervise direct reports: Provide coaching support and mentorship as they work to achieve their performance targets and goals. Evaluate performance through regular meetings and annual reviews. Future staff growth is possible.
  • Act as a Key Resource and Trusted Partner: Serve as a knowledgeable resource for all schools and units providing comprehensive information on the various ways companies can engage with the university. Maintain and disseminate these resources and serve as a trusted partner for internal stakeholders.
  • Focus on Continuous Improvement: Communicate regularly with counterparts at peer institutions regarding emerging trends streamlining administrative practices and maintaining a work ethic of continuous systems quality improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary Range

Base pay is commensurate with experience.

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including ones qualifications and performance equity with others in the department market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
