Role Description

As a Vice President within the Commercial Loan Operations team you will be in a senior role reporting to the Head of Commercial Loan Operations Governance & Initiatives. The Vice President will have responsibilities related to process improvement/project and initiative work. The individual will drive strategic change on behalf of the CLO organization which has day-to-day operational responsibilities across the portfolio of syndicated credit facilities where MUFG acts as Administrative Agent Bilateral Lender or Participant/Member to a syndicated transaction. This VP provides advice and counsel related to the technology or operations of the business. The work impacts an entire area which eventually affects the overall performance and effectiveness of the sub-function/job family.

Responsibilities

  • Establish strategic plans identify and evaluate efficiency gains and establish governance processes to enhance cross-border business efforts in the Americas regions.

  • Drive the streamlining and optimization of loan settlement and servicing including an in-depth evaluation of loan procedures and industry standards to address and resolve challenges across multiple regions

  • Act as key stakeholder in large-scale Commercial Loan initiatives (e.g.: Loan IQ migration; OCR/RPA initiatives etc.) able to effectively communicate and drive change from pre-planning through implementation with various change management & technology groups

  • Establish and monitor implementation of appropriate procedures and solutions to mitigate risk and control losses

  • Partner with internal change stakeholders across Operations and Technology to create/enhance the efficiency of workflows dashboards and reporting

  • Plans coordinates and executes User Acceptance Testing for project scope and deliverables.

  • Operate with a limited level of direct supervision exercising independence of judgment and autonomy.

Functional Skills

  • Excellent project management and organizational skills and capability to handle multiple projects at one time.

  • Extensive understanding of the end-to-end process for commercial loan servicing

  • Solid business analysis skills with strong attention to detail and be able to deliver the expected level of quality consistently

  • In-depth knowledge of:

    • Accounting principles and practices related to syndicated lending

    • Risk types policies control measures and processes

    • Applicable laws rules regulations governing the space

    • Business processes systems and tools used in the loan market

    • Operational risk that exists throughout the lifecycle of a syndicated loan

  • Advanced analytical skills applicable to streamlining operational processes and improving productivity and efficiency

  • Prior industry association or working group involvement (e.g. LSTA LMA) a plus

  • Anticipates changing business needs adjusts priorities accordingly and allocates necessary resources and budget to achieve objectives

  • Prioritizes and facilitates a culture of continuous improvement and systems thinking

  • Sets the tone for successful collaboration with other business units and corporate entities across multiple regions

  • Creates an environment that fosters communication transparency and collaboration

  • Cultivates innovation and values learning as a lifelong professional objective

  • Leads by example acting with integrity and engaging inclusively/with intent

  • Fluent in English Spanish and Portuguese

  • Travel required 25% of the time

The typical base pay range for this role is between $111K - $155K depending on job-related knowledge skills experience and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
