Job Description
Rutgers The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Sr. Electrician Maintenance Mechanic for the Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O). The position is primarily responsible for the planning and coordination of such electrical duties as the installation and repair of wiring fixtures lighting control and alarm systems etc. Among the key duties of this position are the following: Repairs and maintains generators and motors. Installs electrical conduits. Assists in work on switch gear and wiring for 480 volts systems. Cleans shop and work areas. Detects faulty operation of equipment; reports questionable conditions to supervisor; issues work orders to supervisor as necessary. Conducts inventory of equipment materials and supplies. Advises management when to reorder stock. Responsible for estimating work time writing up lists of appropriate and needed materials and providing such materials for him/herself or the group. Performs related duties as required. Provides guidance and instruction to craft trainees.
Overview
The Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O) employs a workforce of approximately 2700 staff represented by 15 collective negotiations agreements and is responsible for institutional strategic initiatives and operations which encompasses an expansive range of comprehensive service and business operations across the State of New Jersey. These include planning and construction facilities public safety and emergency operations environmental health and safety transportation housing and auxiliary/retail operations.
Preferred Qualifications
May be required to obtain Commercial Drivers License.
