Polytechnic School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Assistant Coach for our high school Water Polo program. The ideal candidate will support the head coach in developing student-athletes both in and out of the pool promoting teamwork discipline and sportsmanship while fostering a competitive and inclusive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning and conducting daily practices and training sessions.
  • Support game-day preparation strategy and in-game adjustments.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to student-athletes.
  • Promote a positive and respectful team culture.
  • Monitor academic progress and support eligibility standards.
  • Assist with equipment management and logistics.
  • Communicate effectively with athletes parents and school staff.
  • Ensure compliance with school district and league policies.
  • Engage robustly in fostering diversity equity and inclusion to promote a healthy learning environment;
  • Willingness to take on other duties as needed.

Physical requirements and work environment

  • Work in an environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges and deadlines as well as a diverse array of contacts;
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds;
  • Work in outside weather conditions including extreme heat and cold.

Qualifications

  • Prior coaching or playing experience in water polo (high school or higher level preferred).
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Knowledge of CIF rules and regulations (if applicable).
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required.
  • Valid drivers license and ability to travel to games.
  • Demonstrated experience creating inclusive learning environments and opportunities.
