TITLE:BAND ASSISTANT
EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma.
- Experience working in a band program (preferred).
- Strong interpersonal skills to include written communication verbal communication organization and conflict resolution skills.
- Organizational skills basic mathematical skills basic computer skills and communication skills are an essential part of this job.
- Ability required to schedule a number of activities meetings and/or events; gather collate and analyze data: and consider a variety of factors when using equipment or overseeing the use of equipment.
REPORTS TO: Director of bands
JOB SUMMARY: To assure the smooth and efficient operation of the school band program office so that the offices maximum positive impact on the education of children can be realized.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Performs and supervises the usual office routines and practices associated with a productive smoothly run office.
- Obtains gathers and organizes pertinent data as needed and puts it into usable form.
- Makes arrangements for conferences and meetings.
- Coordinates appointments of the Director of Bands and directs such to the proper person.
- Handles the correspondence relating to the position.
- Orders and maintains supplies as needed.
- Receipts and deposits all incoming monies and handles financial transactions such as requisitions fundraiser requests etc.
- Performs data entry tasks associated with the position.
- Monitors receipt of items ordered and arranges for payment.
- Assists the Assistant Band Directors with routine office tasks.
- Proficient and knowledgeable with computer systems (Excel Google Docs student database transportation database and Word)
- Attends booster meetings and works to keep them informed regarding all band events.
- Attends all band concerts and major events to be available for all business transactions.
- Works with band directors across the district to ensure all paperwork is in place for all band events including transportation and/or facility requests.
- Maintains good public relations with parents media outlets band directors from other schools college recruiters private lesson faculty vendors and all MPS employees.
- Maintains appropriate emotional control physical health and personal appearance.
- Accepts responsibility and arrives punctually for activities and duties as assigned.
- Maintains confidentiality.
- Creates a calm and inviting atmosphere in the office.
- Creates and maintains a positive climate for students staff and patrons.
- Effective communication skills when interacting with students patrons and staff.
- Abides by all district policies and state and federal laws.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Bands.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- 1.290 pay ratio
- 188 Work Day Calendar
- 8 hour work day
