Job Description Summary
The Lead Resident Advisor (Lead RA) position is a part-time student staff member in the Office of Residence Life and First Year Experience ( RLFYE ). Under the supervision of an Area Coordinator (AC) Graduate Resident Director ( GRD ) or Resident Director (RD) the Lead RA is responsible for supporting the growth and development of the Resident Advisor (RA) staff and residents of a particular community. Working closely with their AC/ GRD /RD the Lead RA will serve as a vital asset to the RLFYE student staff by acting as a role model and resource while providing general oversight of residence life expectations. This position could require on average 10 hours a week in addition to the RA responsibilities. Please note additional hours (up to 19) may be required during high traffic periods such as Fall Training Winter Training and Spring Closing and will be communicated by the supervisor. Outlined below are the responsibilities and expectations of the Lead RA position.
Responsibilities
The Lead is expected to perform the following in addition to the general RA responsibilities described later in this document: Build a positive supportive and strong working team environment for RLFYE student staff. Enhance student staff interactions and culture and coordinate frequent staff bonding opportunities. Assist AC/ GRD /RD in implementing hall office operations and services of the hall (Manage storage room inventory copy job orders etc.). Attend weekly one-on-one meetings with supervisor. Attend 2-hour monthly Professional Development meetings on the last Friday of every month. Assist with planning and facilitation of student staff training for RAs during the fall and spring semester including bi-monthly staff development. Schedule and input all duty schedules in Roompact and approve all duty swaps throughout the year. Assist with new resident check-ins throughout the year (including RIF completion door decorations etc.). Assist in creating small staff meeting agendas and partial facilitation of small staff meetings. Manage social media platforms for their assigned building and communication manager (if applicable). Serve as a resource and role model for RLFYE student staff. Working collaboratively with other Lead RAs in creating how-to guides for all RAs using Notion. Update lead transition report throughout the academic year. Complete 2-5 hours weekly of building specific tasks and projects as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications
Little to minimal prior experience. Ability to learn support process. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
