Job Description:
This role supports developing and implementing communication strategies by coordinating with clients and stakeholders creating articles and creative content and managing website and social media updates for ongoing and strategic initiatives.
Key Accountabilities:
Communications Strategy: Develops and implements communication strategies and toolkits in collaboration with program leaders ensuring clear processes for content development approval and distribution for internal and external audiences.
Communications Production: Creates and delivers program/division-wide communications plans prepares and edits publications develops creative concepts and utilizes existing resources and channels for effective message delivery.
Stakeholder Management: Advises and supports stakeholders and senior leaders on strategic communication needs develops workstream-specific communication requirements and maintains strong relationships across the organization.
Editorial Responsibilities: Writes edits and manages content for Salvationist publications and websites oversees news coverage selects graphics ensures quality and doctrinal consistency and provides content revision and copyediting.
Content Quality and Compliance: Identifies and corrects errors in spelling grammar and style ensures accurate citations eliminates jargon and flags potential legal or social acceptability issues in content.
Production and Vendor Management: Supervises all aspects of production liaises with printers and suppliers manages budgets billing invoicing and ensures quality control for printed and digital publications.
Reporting: Tracks reports and presents communication activities at governance forums ensuring accurate and timely reporting aligned with organizational requirements.
Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Qualifications:
Completion of a formal post-secondary/college/University degree program of three academic years in Journalism Communications or other related discipline. An alternative combination of education and experience may be considered.
Five years of related progressive communications/web/social media experience in an organizational setting.
Proficient in using various software for graphic editing form building data management and reporting including Microsoft Office WordPress and Hootsuite.
Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud applications (InDesign Photoshop Premiere) with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software tools.
Demonstrates excellent organizational communication marketing and project coordination skills with strong attention to detail.
Manages multiple priorities effectively showing flexibility and adaptability to changing needs.
Works well in a team environment meeting tight deadlines with a positive and solution-focused approach.
Takes initiative and maintains a high level of enthusiasm while ensuring quality in all tasks.
Flexibility to work outside regular business hours and availability on short notice to address website/social media issues if they arise.
Valid drivers license and clear drivers abstract is required; personal vehicle may be required for some roles.
Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $66831.48 to $83539.35 with a maximum of $100247.22.Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions internal equity and candidate experience skills and qualifications relevant to the role.
