St Vincents Work Health & Safety team is looking for an Injury Management Coordinator to join our WHS WorkCover team in Melbourne. Reporting to the State WorkCover Lead your role will be to effectively manage workers compensation claims and injury management including early intervention strategies. Your goal is to positively influence injury management outcomes in order to achieve timely and safe return to normal duties for workers who have suffered an injury/illness.

This role is available on a Permanent Part Time basis working 3 days per week (0.6 FTE) based out of our Group Office in Melbourne VIC.

Key responsibilities of the role:

  • Support and encourage injured workers and their representatives the opportunity to give feedback on the rehabilitation process
  • Provide advice to relevant managers regarding fitness for work and pre-employment medical assessments
  • Lodge workers compensation claims with the insurer and create and maintain confidential claims file within St Vincents injury management database system proactively managing claims
  • Advise and guide managers on injury management and return to work workers compensation processes liability and employer responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of workers compensation claims
  • Participate and collaborate in meetings and training champion continuous improvement initiatives and support in promoting injury management processes and benefits to the wider St Vincents

  • Qualifications in Return to Work Coordination for relevant jurisdictions
  • 3 years experience in injury and return to work (RTW) coordination and claims management ideally in a similar complex and large organisation
  • Excellent working knowledge of workers compensation legalisation practice and trends including insurer requirements and a great understanding of injury management/rehabilitation
  • Demonstrated problem solving and conflict resolution skills and experience with a strong early intervention and return to work focus
  • Strong interpersonal influencing and negotiation skills to gain acceptance and support of ideas provide feedback and guidance to assist others
  • Proactive customer focus mind-set with the ability to maintain collaborative and effective relationships across St Vincents
