Job Description
Position will be open until filled.
We are currently seeking:
A maintenance worker to join our team. In this role you will perform unskilled general labor and maintenance work for city cemetery street facilities and infrastructure in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures.
Your responsibilities will include:
- The development and maintenance of cemetery properties performing duties such as picking up trash edging and weeding flower beds applying water to lawn areas and flower beds cleaning restrooms pruning trees painting and minor repair work to buildings and structures repairs and installs sprinkler systems sprays trees and flowers for insect control mowing grass and edging curbs.
- Assisting in gravesite preparation.
- Utilizing and maintaining hand tools equipment and vehicles required in work.
- Operating and maintaining a variety of specialized equipment and performing general manual labor tasks in order to maintain cemetery streets infrastructure and city facilities as assigned; duties will vary according to job assignment and individual skills; responds to emergencies as needed.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Hours: Monday through Friday 7:30 am to 4:30 pm to include weekends and some holidays.
- Periodically provides some over-time and services on weekends and holidays.
- Regular and timely attendance is required.

Requirements and Skills:
- Skill in operating various tools and machines used in ground maintenance work. Skill in light construction work.
- Safe and efficient operation and maintenance of tools and equipment.
- Closely following verbal and written instructions and procedures.
- Skilled in operating various tools and machines used in ground maintenance work.
- Backhoe experience preferred but not required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
- A High School diploma or equivalent.
- Two years of experience in performing ground maintenance or any combination of education and experience.
Required Licenses or Certifications:
- A valid Texas Driver License with a good driving record is required.
- Applicants with an out-of-state driver license must provide an original certified driving record from the state of driving licensure.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions as they occur.
- Work will be performed inside and outside in extreme weather conditions.
- Ability to perform strenuous labor for extended periods of time.
- A physical fitness evaluation will be required to satisfy the physical requirements of the job. Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 115lbs.
