Hourly rate listed is for 24-25.

POSITION TITLE: Volunteer and Event Coordinator

REPORTS TO: Director of Sky Valley Education Center

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Volunteer and Event Coordinator plans organizes and coordinates events and volunteer activities that support the mission and community of Sky Valley Education Center. This position fosters meaningful family engagement by recruiting training and supporting volunteers and by designing events that align with the unique needs of a Parent Partnership Program. The Volunteer and Event Coordinator demonstrates strong communication organizational skills and professionalism while building positive relationships with families staff students and the community.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous experience coordinating events and/or managing volunteers preferably in an educational setting

  • Demonstrated experience with homeschool education or Parent Partnership programs

  • Previous experience working with school-aged students and families in an alternative education environment

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Successful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint clearance

  • I-9 employment eligibility in compliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act

  • HIV/HBV training (obtain within 60 days of hire date District provided)

  • Human Resources new hire training (obtain within 60 days of hire date District provided)

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of best practices for volunteer recruitment training and retention

  • Knowledge of effective event planning logistics promotion and evaluation

  • Familiarity with homeschool communities and Parent Partnership program models

  • Strong interpersonal communication and public relations skills

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with staff families and community partners

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion

  • Ability to organize manage time effectively and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan organize and coordinate a variety of family and community events to support student and family engagement

  • Recruit train schedule and supervise volunteers to support events and program needs

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with parents guardians and community members

  • Work with staff to identify volunteer needs and opportunities within the program

  • Promote events and volunteer opportunities through newsletters social media and other communication channels

  • Track and maintain accurate volunteer records and event participation data

  • Ensure that events comply with Monroe School District policies and procedures

  • Attend and supervise events to ensure smooth operations and a safe welcoming atmosphere

  • Build positive public relations with students parents staff and the wider community

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission of Sky Valley Education Center

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is typically performed in an office or school setting with occasional work outdoors or off-site for events.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Use of a personal computer telephone and other office equipment

  • Ability to communicate effectively in person and in writing

  • Ability to sit stand walk and lift light event materials as needed

  • Occasional evening or weekend work to support events may be required

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:
This is a part-time non-represented position working 12 hours per week on a schedule determined by the Director based on program needs. Salary is determined by the current salary schedule.

EVALUATION PROCEDURES:
Performance will be evaluated annually according to Board and administrative policies and procedures.
