BASIC FUNCTION : Under the direction of the Dean of Student Success or appropriate designee provide instructional assistance and support to students in the Student Success Center ( SSC in math statistics and science across the disciplines study skills instructional software computer operations and supplemental instruction; provide specialized tutorial assistance for all math statistics and science classes and related classes as appropriate; oversee the mathematics and science tutoring in all centers within the Student Success Center including the MESA Center; training and monitoring tutors and being a resource for the tutors; evaluate math and tutoring software for use in the center and provide assistance and expertise in using the currently adopted math and tutoring software; provide feedback to the mathematics and science department and Dean regarding the tutoring program at both centers; provide technical assistance to students faculty and staff in the use of technology in instructional programs monitors and reports student progress; participate in a wide variety of specialized program and office duties; assist in other operations of the Student Success Center.
Physical Demands
ENVIRONMENT : Classroom lab and/or office environment. PHYSICAL ABILITIES : Communicating to exchange information Reading various materials Operate a computer keyboard Sitting for extended periods of time Bending at the waist kneeling or crouching Drive to required sites Reaching overhead above the shoulders and horizontally. Lifting moderately heavy objects.
Required Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE : Any combination equivalent to: bachelors degree in mathematics science technology engineering or related field and two years of experience as a tutor or tutor coordinator. Demonstrate the ability to tutor mathematical concepts at all levels of the community college curriculum.
