You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe Defense and Aerospace Quality Technician supports quality assurance activities related to aerospace and defense manufacturing. This role is responsible for inspecting components and assemblies performing quality tests supporting root cause investigations and ensuring compliance with applicable standards such as AS9100 ITAR and customer-specific requirements. The technician works closely with engineering production and quality teams to maintain product integrity and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Perform in-process and final inspections of aerospace and defense products assemblies and subassemblies.
Verify product compliance using precision measuring instruments (calipers micrometers CMMs height gauges etc.).
Conduct and document First Article Inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102 standards.
Assist with non-conformance investigations and support corrective/preventive action activities (CAPA).
Maintain accurate and up-to-date inspection records and quality documentation.
Support internal and external quality audits and customer inspections.
Ensure adherence to AS9100 ISO 9001 and ITAR requirements.
Assist Quality Engineers in the execution of MRB (Material Review Board) processes.
Provide feedback to production regarding quality trends issues or process improvements.
Train production operators on inspection techniques and quality requirements as needed.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED preferred (not required) or equivalent experience; technical certification or associate degree preferred.
2 years of quality inspection or technician experience. Preferably in the aerospace or defense industry.
Strong working knowledge of AS9100 and ITAR compliance standards.
Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings schematics and GD&T.
Experience using measurement tools and performing detailed inspections.
Basic understanding of root cause analysis and non-conformance documentation.
Familiarity with FAI SPC and documentation control.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced regulated manufacturing environment.
Strong attention to detail organizational skills and communication abilities.
Preferred Skills
Familiarity with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
Knowledge of electromechanical assemblies PCBA inspection or machined parts.
Certifications such as ASQ CQT IPC-A-610 or J-STD-001 are a plus.
